The Department of Computer Architecture (Departament d'Arquitectura de Computadors, DAC) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) was created in 1987.
The DAC is specialized in the knowledge area "Computer Architecture and Technology". So, the DAC is responsible for educating and carrying out research in topics related to this knowledge area; for instance, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks and Operating Systems.
The DAC is responsible for graduate courses in programs offered by several engineering schools: the Facultat d'Informàtica de Barcelona (FIB), l'Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona (ETSETB), l'Escola d'Enginyeria de Telecomunació i Aeroespacial de Castelldefels (EETAC) and l'Escola Politècnica Superior d'Enginyeria de Vilanova i la Geltrú (EPSEVG). The DAC also offers a doctoral program, a master degree (Computer Architecture Newtworks and Systems - CANS) and collaborates with master degrees offered by engineering schools (MTI by FIB, MINT by ETSETB and MAST by EETAC).
The research carried out by DAC is organized in several research groups involved in national and international competitive research projects. DAC's scientific production is published in top conferences and journals. DAC members have been involved in the creation of research centers (CEPBA, CCABA, CIRI, BSC-CNS, BSSAD -Compaq-, Intel Labs Barcelona).
This website offers a Faculty and Staff directory.
DAC activities are summarized in this brochure and on several yearbooks.
UPC's website offers several statistics about DAC.
