Department of Computer Architecture

About us

The Department of Computer Architecture (Departament d'Arquitectura de Computadors, DAC) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) was created in 1987.

The DAC is specialized in the knowledge area "Computer Architecture and Technology". So, the DAC is responsible for educating and carrying out research in topics related to this knowledge area; for instance, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks and Operating Systems.

The DAC is responsible for graduate and master courses in programs offered by several engineering schools: the Facultat d'Informàtica de Barcelona (FIB), l'Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona (ETSETB), l'Escola d'Enginyeria de Telecomunació i Aeroespacial de Castelldefels (EETAC) and l'Escola Politècnica Superior d'Enginyeria de Vilanova i la Geltrú (EPSEVG). The DAC offers a doctoral program:"Computer Architecture".

The research carried out by DAC is organized in several research groups involved in national and international competitive research projects. DAC's scientific production is published in top conferences and journals. DAC members have been involved in the creation of research centers (CEPBA, CCABA, CIRI, BSC-CNS, BSSAD -Compaq-, Intel Labs Barcelona).
